First Time Cinema in Zurich

Usually I start feeling at home in a place when I start going to local cinemas. It's just something I would not do as a tourist. Tonight had the pleasure to experience the atmosphere at the Frosch Studio. A cinema hidden in a backstreet of Niederdorf. Getting there means already enjoying the evening lights of the limmatquai and the churches left and right of the river. If you get there early enough and you have booked tickets you might even be able to have some tapas and a glass of wine at the Corazon Bar just opposite. Nice mixed crowd and excellent manchego, jamon serrano and chorizo served. The cinema itself is a cozy and informal place, with a bit of a retro kitch Style, big comfortable chairs and some giant backlit photographs of cinema icons from the 40s onwards looking down at you while you watch the latest oscar winning blockbuster in original language with german AND french subtitles.

Bohemia Night

We've talked a lot about nature and nice walks in the woods, but what about a good night out! We happily experimented some of our local bars and came across the Bohemia a short walk away from where we live- forchstrasse-Looked like a nice crowd from outside and confirmed itself as a very pleasant place . Mojito was definitely worthwhile, nice easy crowd even if the place itself looks quite trendy! Good place to go for a drink and a chat, music is not too loud! Next time will post a pictures of the drink!

A dog's Life!

Zurich is definitely a good place to live if you have a dog.
Milan was a good dog-upbringing territory for reasons that were more social. You would meet the most diverse and helpful people in parks while walking the dog.

But Zurich is something else. First of all you breathe clean air! Secondly you have really a lot of good dog walking spots to choose from. The woods on the Dolder, or the fantastic dog walking area above Zollikon are definitely worth a visit! Your 4 legged friend will surely love you even more after a couple of hours there.

Hidden Treasures

One of the things that strikes me about this city is that hidden behind trees or one of the many green patches you can come across some real treasures which blend into nature as if they've always belonged to eachother.

One of these spots is the Le Corbusier House, placed in one corner of the Zurichhorn Park. You might even miss it if you don't look hard enough. But the effort is well worth it. A colourful patch placed between greens and heritage villas

Early Morning Walks

Having a dog in the family means seeing places at times of the day when light makes beautiful spots even more wonderful.

It's really worth taking a walk early in the morning, just after sunrise, or at sunset. Just take the path along the lake starting from Bellevue and head towards Zurichhorn.

That is the side of the lake that benefits from sunlight the longest, in winter especially.
